Napa Valley Film Festival showcases the best in new independent filmmaking and world cinema. Our vision is to build community around the art of visual story-telling, with the viewing of films and discussions with filmmakers fueling lively conversation amongst old and new friends … and those conversations being enriched with the world-class food and wine of legendary Napa Valley. The Napa Valley Film Festival takes place on the second full weekend of November each year. This period represents mid-fall and the tail end of Napa Valley’s gorgeous harvest season. The festival runs from Wednesday evening through Sunday night – what we like to refer to as an extended weekend, the best kind. Villages & Venues
This is where the ‘magic’ happens. These unique venues in Napa, Yountville, St. Helena and Calistoga showcase our films, host our parties, and set the stage for culinary demonstrations and industry panels. From turn of the last century art house theaters to state-of-the-art facilities to speakeasy lounges, our venues are sure to elicit ‘oohs and ahs’.
Films & Filmmakers
In 2014, the Festival will screen approximately 120 films, from feature to short length, and in various forms. Our narrative and documentary Artist in Residence program will bring together 16 feature length films in competition. This program, generously supported by Meadowood Napa Valley, provides the writers/directors with six days of mentoring, networking and accommodations at the luxurious property. And our popular animated short film competition, generously sponsored by Amazon Web Services and Intel, provides a platform for filmmakers utilizing the powerful cloud computing service to create their works.
A Catalyst for Conversation. Let’s get digital. Interact with friends, family, and the entire Napa Valley Film Festival community, by instagraming and tweeting your favorite pics. If you have any on your phone from last year, share your experience with us by using the hashtag: #NVFF13. Otherwise, get ready to switch over to #NVFF14 in the coming months.
Feeding thousands of film buffs and wine lovers takes a lot of work, and a lot of good taste. What better way to accompany conversation about the riveting films then a glass of wine and sweet or savory nibbles. Afternoons are reserved for wine tastings at wine pavilions featured in each town. And our special events feature the wine and cuisine that have made Napa Valley a legendary destination.
