Studio Sneak Peeks

Several of this year’s Academy Award hopefuls are taking a detour through wine country on their way to the big ceremony in March. Critical favorites “August: Osage County”, “Nebraska”, “Saving Mr. Banks”, “One Chance”, “Philomena” “The Immigrant”, and “Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom” will all screen in the valley this year—don’t miss a chance to catch these films before the rest of the world does!

Narrative Features

For the third consecutive year, the directors of the ten films in the U.S. Narrative Features Competition will stay in the lap of luxury at MEADOWOOD NAPA VALLEY while participating in NVFF’s innovative Artists-in-Residence program. These talented filmmakers will have the opportunity to network with each other, discuss new projects, and explore career development with industry mentors, all while mingling with the other guests at one of the world’s most beautiful resorts.
The industry mentors will conduct a Master Class with our Artists-in-Residence on Thursday, November 14. The faculty will include film producer Christine Vachon and writer/director Joe Carnahan.
Along with hosting the Festival’s Artists-in-Residence program, Meadowood Napa Valley also presents a $10,000 cash prize to the filmmaker whose film is selected by the Jury as Best U.S. Narrative Feature.

Special Screenings

Special screenings at the Napa Valley Film Festival are out-of-competition films selected to screen due to their content and voice. Often times these films will screen just once or twice during the festival.

Animated Shorts

New this year! The Napa Valley Film Festival is excited to present a new category — Animated Short Films sponsored by Amazon Web Services and Intel. These twelve films represent a wide variety of styles, techniques and genres from around the world. By showcasing the best in animated filmmaking at the festival, NVFF and our partners, AWS and Intel provide thedigital animation community with a new platform for their artistic concepts and vision within this medium. Both Juried and Audience Award winners will be announced at the Closing Night Awards Ceremony at the UptownTheatre, Sunday, November 17th.
